at this point i think richard brody just hates any movie that gets even a whiff of mainstream popularity

Great read as always! Clumping China and Russia together as imperialist/authoritarian seems lazy to me though - would also love your thoughts on the difference between china's state dictated tech/censorship policies and the US's increasing technofeudalism structure

I have been WAITING for someone else to voice their frustrations over Richard Brody. He has the worst film takes for a critic so high up in any mainstream publication. I also remember him hating Oppenheimer in 2023 and being so annoying about it. Thank you for this.

It's cool how the program you outlined in your "statement of intent" shines through in your writing on specific topics—for example, recognizing the advantages of a professional editor without viewing mainstream media uncritically or comparing armchair critics with the reality in tech companies.
