I’m heading up to SF next month for work. I’ve heard the city is in a much better state these days. Is that true? Last year I still got harassed a couple times on the street by crazy homeless people and the clouds of fentanyl smoke were so think on one street at night I just went around to avoid it. I hope it’s getting better, I really love SF.

I think it just depends where you are in the city! TL / Union Square / parts of Market / parts of the Mission are still chaotic (unfort a lot around where hotels are), but a lot of the city is lovely and great. I've never been harassed by anyone, and I walk/bus/bart in SF as a lone woman all the time at all times of day. I do think it's much better than COVID. Hang out in Pac Heights, Presdio, Sunset/Richmond, around Dolores Park, etc.

Hi Jasmine! Great article

Fellow SF person here. This place as it is-is home.

I would love to attend another event as such at the interval .

Let me know. Thank you, thank you, Linda Nueva.

See San Francisco Writer on my Substack On Watch: Essays and Stories. I was in the Interval Thursday night following my talk at the SF Maritime Museum (Bluejacket: Herman Melville USN), your Thursday there looked much more simpatico.

There was no literary scene in Cafe Vagabondo days. Now there is. Wish I had been there.

LF too. All best.

SF desperately needs more opportunities for building cultural community, sweet party!

Sounds like an amazing party. I love the places where idealistic, smart people can talk and listen to each other.

That party looks like it was so epic
